Boutique Hotel Santa Prassede: where history meets the warmth of family hospitality, attention to detail, and creativity

Boutique Hotel Santa Prassede is located in Rione Monti, the oldest district in Rome, where the Esquiline Hill becomes the ideal intersection of two eras: Imperial Rome and the Rome of the Popes blend into a unique urban landscape.

Within a 15-minute walk, crossing the archaeological area of Colle Oppio Park and the Domus Aurea, you can reach the Imperial Forums and the Colosseum.

In the opposite direction, the hotel lies along the axis of the ancient Via Sistina, the route commissioned by Sixtus V to connect the Basilicas of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme and San Giovanni to Santa Maria Maggiore, continuing toward Trinità dei Monti and Piazza del Popolo.

Just steps away is the Basilica of Santa Prassede, renowned for its 9th-century Byzantine mosaics and the Chapel of San Zenone, known as the "Garden of Paradise".

LOCATION Monti, a charming environment

Our hotel is located on the top of the Esquilino hill in the historical district of Monti. Thanks to the proximity of Termini Central Station, reachable in 9 minutes on foot, our hotel is well connected to the airports, with the non-stop Leonardo Express train and the airport shuttles that depart from here. With a pleasant walk you can reach all the main attractions. Vatican City and San Pietro are easily reached by metro A from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and by bus 64 and 40 Express, from the terminus Piazza dei Cinquecento Termini. Passing by the Colle Oppio or via delle Sette Sale and San Pietro in Vincoli, a pleasant walk of about 10 minutes, takes you to the Colosseum. If you want to reach the EUR, the Rome Convention Center "La Nuvola", the New Fair of Rome or the University of Rome 3 can use the Metro B Cavour just 600 meters away from our hotel.

Monti invites our guests to delve into the urban fabric of the neighborhood that has remained partly untouched by the construction activity of the late nineteenth century and the windy fascists, where the thousand-year history of the city and the interweaving of centuries that mark its face is more palpable. In the maze of medieval streets, which follow with their ups and downs the hilly morphology, intersect impressive archaeological remains like the Imperial Forum, the Market of Traiano, the Colosseo, the Domus Aurea evidence of a prestigious monumental past, medieval dwelling towers first of all the impressive Tower of the Milizie, prestigious palaces and small buildings, the new sixteenth-century roads, via Panisperna, via dei Serpenti and the route of via Sistina, the magnificent papal basilicas of Santa Maria Maggiore and San Giovanni in Laterano and the no less rich minor basilicas like San Pietro in Vincoli with the Moses of Michelangelo or San Martino ai Monti, artisan shops, vintage shops, art galleries, bars and family-run trattorias. The charm of the minute reigns in the square of Santa Maria ai Monti, the intimacy of the popular and the charm of everyday life. The elegant Via Nazionale invites shopping. Via del Boschetto is packed with top-notch boutiques, artisans and ateliers, selling everything from hip clothing to handcrafted jewelry to vintage bags.

We thank the American painter Susan O'neil (www.susanoneillfineart.com), for having given us this precious watercolour, realised during her stay in Rome which depicts the entrance of our hotel.
